SPACE CLINICS &

EDINBURGH PODIATRY CLINIC

EPC and 'Space Clinics' are currently undertaking a study into 'How excessive pronation affects the upper kinetic chain', and with very clear results, we are finding that our means to treat this is very successful indeed.

As part of this research we are designing a foot measurement tool. We plan to present our findings of this research at 'The Second World Congress into sports injury prevention', in Oslo, Summer 2008....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SPACE!!

3 YEARS AND COUNTING...

Monday 14th February, 2005.

Space opened its doors for the first time since the premises changed from a lingerie shop to an integrated centre of physiotherapy, massage, podiatry and orthopaedics!

2 physios, a masseuse and our Office Manager fronted up at 9am, and 9 patients later Space had achieved its first day of business. A dream conceived years before had come true, an original business plan written on a napkin at a pub lunch had become a reality, and our first patients had utilised the sprung flooring, the vibration platform and the plethora of towels scattered around the various treatment rooms and spaces available.

3 years later, and we are busy preparing our 10,000th invoice. There have been many changes behind the scenes too. One of our original staff members was married in his native New Zealand at the weekend (congrats to both James & Kate), our Office Manager Sharon gave birth to Lily last month, and one of our reception staff, the much-missed Valeria from Argentina has also celebrated the birth of her first child since our opening. Our Finance Director, Nick has also seen his wife give birth to two children since Space opened, and our very first podiatrist, Toni, got married in the US of A.

Our staff have also been busy out of the clinic, with our two Clinical Directors working at the Rugby World Cup as physios to the Scotland squad, Mairi working at the Island Games in Greece last year. Gillian is embarking on her 4th 6 Nations rugby campaign as masseuse, and Space has had medical representations at the Under 20s Rugby World Cup, International Rugby 7s competitions as well as the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in 2006.

It is comforting that with all the changes of staff and staff’s lives occurring that Space has continued to grow and work hard to ensure that changes that happen to patients are all positive. We see change as something positive to be embraced, and although we may miss the staff whom have left us, we recognise that they have contributed massively to the Space story thus far, and we are also reassured that any new staff present are here to promote and encourage the healthy future of the Clinic, and most importantly, you, the patient.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY US!
