AND RELAX….WELL SORT OF
Well its Monday the 26th of March so that means that the world cup has came and gone.
Success for me was to get to the final of my chosen event the 15km Scratch race and get there I did.
The biggest problem I came across was getting on to an indoor track over the past few weeks to work on the all-important speed required for the world cup. So putting the lack of track time behind me I set about my event with all the usual rituals off warming up, getting the all important play list sorted on my mp3 player and setting about "gittin the heed own".
The race itself was mental, straight from the gun the speed was super high (50 – 60 kph) and everyone was battling for position. My plan for the race was to get as much media coverage for my Plowman Craven – Evans Cycles team. To be honest I was just happy to be there, it was always going to be very difficult to be in the thick of the action due all the other riders having ridden all the previous rounds of the series. I gave the race my usual "going down with all guns blazing" attitude. It paid off and I managed to get several minutes of exposure for my new Bosses. In return the MD of our title sponsor was over the moon with how well I had done. Ok I never won but I gave it a good shot and made the best use of my ability.
The previous weeks leading up to the race had been spent as per usual in Space Clinics, spending my time between the" Dungeon of dread" and the Vibrogym. Mutchy (Stephen Mutch) had also decided to crank it up a notch with the sessions. We started increasing our work in what we call "THE WEB" which has taken around 3 months to work up to (pics are attached).
This now enables me to do just 2 different exercises on the vibrogym instead of 4 – 6. However it doesn’t mean it’s a short cut of any kind trust me. This thing is totally savage, and as you will see from the pics pretty complex. Combining this with my usual core work and the good old turtle, we seem to have managed to come up with an awesome combo of exercises which not only improve me as an athlete, but also don’t take a hug chunk of time to rattle threw when I’ve had a long 5 hrs in the saddle.
So as I said take a deep breathe and relax……well sort of until my next meeting with Mutchy.
Wish me luck
Once again thanks for reading and your support
